Cherry Blossoms and news

The series that took me on a memory lane tour of the Caribbean sea has been completed! The last piece will be published soon. Meanwhile, I have been quite a busy bee with around the village which is finally in full spring bloom.

During the past 2 weeks, the gardens were absolutely stunning to behold with so many hues and fragrances to turn one’s head! Below is the first piece dedicated to this marvelous spring bounty: Cherry Blossoms.

Cherry Blossom is available on the new Shop on my website as a print. Have a look herefullsizeoutput_1262

Gentle breeze

As heavy rainy clouds have been weighting on the sky over my studio all week, it was very easy to “step” into this painting and feel the warmth of the sun on my skin… wishful thinking painting is awesome! 🙂

A windy day

The Turks and Caicos are definitely my favorite islands in the Caribbean. Their turquoise waters surpasses even the Bahamas awe. This piece was painted from a sketch taken in Grand Turks.

Shallow waters

This little painting takes me back again to the beautiful Bahamas Islands. I go back to my memories of the islands quite frequently these days… possibly as wishful thinking as the gray days of english spring are upon us.

Still, the shallow waters of Half Moon Cay that inspired this painting are an excellent subject to practice and improve my water reflection technique, which is the focus of this years work 🙂img_5571

Oceans – prep sketch

It was a pure joy to sketch and explore the palette for this prep sketch for the Oceans series.

After trying several blues, I found that Phtalo was the best one for my eye as the main color. Phtalo Green, Raw Sienna, Raw Umber and Payne Grey complete the palette.

Water has always been such a challenge to see clearly for me to paint, but this year I have decided to make it my goal to overcome it!

I am very excited about starting out on this series on coastal landscapes!
